TINY KindTreeKids Social Play Days! Ages 3.5-6ish
-play-based learning social skills groups-
KindTreeKids with Communication Interventions loves our TINYS!! This program offers a foundation of what KindTreeKids is all about. This will be a platform for them as they age into learning the basics of social skills while building peer engagement and successful play skills. This Fall Season, our Tinys (ages 3-6 yo) will be discovering the early foundation concepts of HOW TO BE A FRIEND by asking these questions:
👀 What do I notice?
🤔 What might someone else be thinking or feeling?
🧩 What is the group doing?
❤️ What choice will help everyone feel comfortable?
Asking (and answering) these questions help create a well-rounded experience that prioritizes the foundational skills needed to build and maintain successful friendships. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey of growth, learning, and fun with your little ones!
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): Every activity is infused with opportunities for social interaction, emotional expression, and peer collaboration. Children will practice communication, perspective-taking, empathy, and conflict resolution skills through play and dedicated activities through our curriculum.
Sensory and Regulation Opportunities: At KindTreeKids, we always recognize and honor the importance of sensory play. Our curriculum includes imaginative free play and movement activities designed to promote self-regulation and emotional balance. Children will have access to a variety of sensory materials that cater to different learning styles and help them manage their emotions effectively.
TOPICS:
AUGUST 23 ~ Noticing Others: Together, we will dive into a little perspective-taking as we think about how others feel during experiences. We will also learn more about how important it is to read others’ emotions when it comes to making friends. Finally, we will explore ways that our actions can affect others!
SEPTEMBER 27 ~ Listen & Follow the Group: The skills we will use in this group will touch on whole-body listening, waiting our turn, impulse control, and following conversation expectations. If we pay attention to the conversation, we can learn to know when it’s our turn to talk. We will get to share our thoughts when we practice patience and self-control!
OCTOBER 18 ~ Think Before We Speak & Act: Inclusion is important, and sometimes we may even have to change the group plan so that everyone belongs. Knowing we should include others and knowing how to include them can be powerful tools in successful friendships. When we learn to think flexibly and problem-solve, we know we can include everyone.
NOVEMBER 29 ~ Perspective Taking & Feelings: We will discover that we can see the same things in different ways! This session will bring an “eye-opening” activity to build on perspective-taking. Learning to practice flexible thinking helps us build our empathy skills and understand different viewpoints.
DECEMBER 20 (HIKE- DIFFERENT LOCATION) ~ BEING A KIND FRIEND: As we close our Fall season with the Tinys, we will do a group hike at a local park. Nature is a calming space for children, and the freedom to explore and connect is always a special way to end our time together. We will reflect on the tools we have learned and discover that practicing kindness and inclusion is the path to building healthy friendships!
