Social Saturdays and Social Sundays Fall 2026 -ages 6ish-11 years old.

These monthly meetings are held at KindTreeKids (located at 3191 Burgundy Road, Decatur 30033), where mindfulness meets social thinking.

We learn best when it’s fun, and that’s what we want for your children, too! Each Social Saturday/Sunday comes with a detailed recap note that not only explains what we did in great detail but also offers parenting support and take-home ideas. You will be equipped to go over the program with your child and feel confident in ways to continue the support in other settings!

OUR FALL THEME: LOOK - LISTEN - LEARN

This season, we will be our best social thinking selves as we discover how to read the room, follow the group plan, listen/think before we speak, take perspective, and practice kindness and inclusion! Each month, we will unpack a new topic that offers insight into how to use our eyes, ears, and brains to connect to our space, engage with our friends, and develop healthy relationships! Each session, our topics will help us connect to three bigger skills:

  • self-awareness (noticing what we feel when we have this emotion/feeling/experience)

  • emotional regulation (managing how we respond to these feelings)

  • social/emotional IQ (understanding how our responses affect friendships and how others might feel)

KindTreeKids is passionate about providing a supportive environment where children can explore their emotions, practice self-advocacy, and learn strategies to manage their reactions—all through play. We break down complex emotional concepts into kid-friendly language and interactive activities, empowering children to become more emotionally resilient, self-aware, and equipped with lifelong skills for understanding themselves and others.

MORE ABOUT OUR TOPICS:

  • AUGUST 29/30 - READING THE ROOM. We will kick off the new season by laying the foundation of what it means to “read the room.” What would happen if everyone ignored the rules or acted without thinking about how their actions impact others?! We will learn that our choices impact others and matter to how successful the outcome is, especially in group settings where we are sharing our space and time with others. We will learn how important it is to help everyone feel safe, included, and comfortable!

  • SEPTEMBER 19/20 - FOLLOWING THE GROUP PLAN. Finding the right voice for different situations can be very challenging. Our words are how we can share information, and sometimes they can come out too big, too loud, too soft, or too pushy! We have to use our eyes, ears, and brains as we look, listen, and think about the plan to keep the conversation comfortable for everyone! When we learn the value of waiting for our turn, we discover that speaking up isn’t ONLY about saying what’s on OUR minds. Listening to others is equally important!

  • OCTOBER 24/25 - LISTENING & THINKING BEFORE WE SPEAK. Communication is everything, and our words can be very powerful. Sometimes they come so fast that they can crash, boom, and bang into others’ words, and it can negatively impact the way we build relationships. Before speaking, it’s important to slow down and think to make sure our words are truthful, helpful, inspiring, necessary, and kind (THINK method). Using our tools to listen for the topic and read the room to see how the group is engaging can be helpful reminders of how to use our own voice.

  • NOVEMBER 14/15 - PERSPECTIVE TAKING. Taking perspective can be so challenging for our young children. This part of their brain is still developing, and trusting ourselves to think beyond the “self” is much easier said than done. No one experiences the world in the same way. It’s important to understand that people’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences shape how we see situations. We will discover that perspective-taking is like pretending to be someone else for a minute. When we try to imagine what others see, feel, or think, even if it’s different from what we think, we can see that it helps us get along better with others!

  • DECEMBER 12/13 - (FALL HIKE) KINDNESS & INCLUSION. This session is held at a different location. Our end-of-season hike always includes a topic related to compassion and empathy. It’s very important to do our part by being kind and inclusive to everyone. It can feel very hard to know how to stand up for others or even ourselves. When we learn how to set boundaries while remaining kind and connected, we can build leadership and confidence! We will close our hike by reviewing all of the topics we learned and practiced all season!

These groups are limited in size, and they fill up VERY quickly so please take this into consideration when you register!
***Cancellations must be made at least 7 DAYS prior to the August session for you to move the deposit to another program. The cancellation policy is outlined in further detail on the registration page. By registering for this program, you agree to these terms. Thank you for your understanding!
